(2009.04.29) VaultletSuite 2 Go Featured in Tactical
Technology Collective and FrontLine's "Security in-a-box"
Project
English
and Spanish versions
of the beta "Security in-a-box" project have been posted
which feature, among many other fine and useful privacy and security
protecting software packages, tutorials (en/es)
on the VaultletSuite 2 Go.
You might ask yourself "what's the "Security-in-a-box"
project? Here's your answer, in the "Security in-a-box"
project's own words:
...If you are an advocate who focuses on sensitive issues,
or somebody who works closely with one, you have no doubt experienced
or heard stories about digital security and privacy threats.
Computers and backup drives that were confiscated, passwords
that changed mysteriously, local websites that were hacked or
overloaded by malicious Internet traffic, foreign websites that
can no longer be accessed and emails that appear to have been
forged, blocked, modified or read by someone other than the
intended recipient. These are true stories, and many of them
are set in an environment that makes matters even worse, an
environment in which computer operating systems are frequently
out-of-date, software is often pirated and viruses run rampant.
This toolkit provides explanations of, and solutions for,
threats like these. It was created by a diverse team of experts
who understand not only the conditions under which advocates
work, but also the resource restrictions they face.
R. P. Ruiz, VaultletSoft's Founder, has collaborated
extensively with Tactical Tech and Front Line on the internationalization
(i18n) and localization (l10n) of the VaultletSuite 2 Go for this
project.
In v2.8.3 of the VaultletSuite 2 Go, in addition
to incorporating the finalized French and Russian interface translations,
Ruiz has added new "Help" menu links that point to the
Spanish and English
versions of the "Security in-a-box" website and VaultletSuite
2 Go tutorials (en/es).
Says Ruiz: "This is a huge and important
project - putting together and documenting a collection of free
and complementary multilingual software packages for non-technologists
is not for the faint of heart."
Further, Ruiz feels that "It is vitally
important that everybody, individuals and businesses alike,
support those doing important and dangerous work in defense
of rights and principles that many of us take for granted. It
is an honor and a pleasure to participate in this project and
to make the VaultletSuite 2 Go available for free to NGOs, educational
institutions and the press."
The "Security in-a-box" project is currently
finalizing French, Russian and Arabic beta versions as we speak.
New "Security in-a-box" "Help" menu items
will be added to the French and Russian versions of the VaultletSuite
2 Go as they are made available.
(2009.04.21) Over
messages, passwords and files protected by VaultletSuite 2 Go!
VaultletSoft built it, and you came - and in the process the
VaultletSuite 2 Go has gone from being bare-bones, English-only
software to a trusted, portable and sophisticated multilingual
privacy protection package used in over 70 countries by speakers
of over 40 languages.
Thanks to all of you who understand that "Privacy is
Autonomy". Without you, VaultletSoft would have no reason
to exist.
(2009.04.01) VaultletSoft's Founder,
R. P. Ruiz, Interviewed on Univision About Conficker Threat
R. P. Ruiz spoke recently with Univisión
about the sudden interest and apprehension over the timing, and
possible impending doom, associated with the Conficker worm.
When asked to explain the danger represented
by this particular piece of malware, his short answer was that
because Conficker could update itself on the fly, and thus change
it's behavior in the process, the threat to any given computer
was incalculable.
Further, he added that users should
take all malware seriously, and always take care to practice
"safe computing", lest the smallest, most innocuous
and media-attention-deprived malware fell their computer and destroy
all of their most valuable information.
Said Ruiz: "I was asked
for a simple answer to a problem that doesn't lend itself to
silver bullet solutions... And telling people that they have
an undeniable responsibility to educate themselves doesn't make
for much of a sound byte either."
"So I told them to keep everything (OS, antivirus, firewall,
browsers and plugins) up to date through automation", along
with my old saw about always backing up their valuable information".
"...It was the off-camera
conversation with my interviewer Claudia Uceda that felt more
productive - in that conversation I gave her the condensed version
of my Simple Electronic Security and Practical Data Protection
Seminar."
Ruiz continued: "...and despite the fact that
Claudia Uceda isn't a technologist, she followed it and asked
intelligent questions along the way. This supports my claim
that education is your most effective tool for protecting your
valuable information.
So here's the take away in 3 words:
"Educate and Automate". Once you have a fundamental
understanding of the relationship between you, your computer,
and the internet ecosystem, there are certain things and thought
processes that you can automate to help lighten your load.
(2009.03.17) VaultletSoft Offers
You a New Service:
Simple Electronic Security and
Practical Data Protection (SES & PDP) Workshops and Free Seminars.
VaultletSoft's president, R. P. Ruiz, has conducted
quite
a few SES & PDP workshops recently, both abroad and in
the Washington D.C. area. These workshops, all of which he has
given at the request of his clients, have been such a success
that he has decided to offer them to you and the organizations
that you work for.
With this offering, R. P. Ruiz addresses the most
important link in the security chain: computer users and the environments
they work in.
Says Ruiz:
It's amazing how well received these workshops
are - once people see how vulnerable and insecure their valuable
information really is, their jaws drop. Literally.
...And once they get over their initial shock,
they're extremely motivated to learn how to mitigate the risks
that have gone from being incredibly abstract before the workshop
to the distressingly real for them.
After completing the workshop, attendees like you
will not only be more secure, but will also become empowered and
informed consumers of security software and services.
And that's the best kind!

(2009.03.16) Version 2.8.2 Includes Easy Account
Upgrades
Our latest update to the VaultletSuite 2 Go includes
easy, at-a-glance subscription status information, along with
quick access to account upgrades and subscription renewals.
All it takes is one click on the status bar's
"Get More" button, and you're ready to upgrade or
extend your current free subscription.
As you might expect from VaultletSoft, all
payment information is not only encrypted in transit, but it's
also stored encrypted, and only stored long enough to verify
the transaction.
With this recent addition it doesn't get any easier
for you to get more Gold
or Blue years!
The biggest news is that the Gold
accounts get more of everything, including much more storage space
and other unique and useful control and secure sharing features
that you can't find anywhere else.
With regards to the new time, size and storage space
constraints for Blue accounts
mentioned in the new feature and pricing matrix, we'll begin enforcing
them when v2.9 is released within the next couple of months. Not
to worry though, we'll make sure that you'll
be notified before we take any action.

Our latest major update to the VaultletSuite 2 Go
includes easy access to the VaultletSuite 2 Go online Support
Forums.
To access the forums, just fire up the latest
version of the VaultletSuite 2 Go and click on the "Help"
menu's "Support Forum" entry. Either that, or you can
go straight to it from here,
or from the "Forums" links found in all of the headers
and footers of the VaultletSoft website.
All it takes is one click on the "Help"
menu's "Support Forum" entry, and you're there. As
you might expect from VaultletSoft, access to the forums is
protected by an encrypted browser connection.
(2009.02.02) We're Upgrading to
VaultletSuite 2 Go v2.8 on Saturday, February 7th from 10:00am
- 12:00 noon (GMT-05)
We'll be upgrading our systems from
10:00am until 12:00 noon GMT-05.
While it's likely that our servers will be upgraded and back online
in less than 30 minutes, upgrades always have an element of surprise
to them, so we prefer to be conservative in our estimates of the
time involved.
While we regret the interruption of
service, we look forward to providing you with significantly enhanced
multilingual system messaging support and our first beta SpecialDelivery
Webmail plugin for Firefox, among other handsome and useful features.
(2009.01.06) VaultletSuite 2 Go
v2.8 Enters Beta Testing
We've added some really nice new features and enhancements
to the latest version of the VaultletSuite 2 Go, including huge
usability improvements for both senders and recipients
of our "send anywhere securely" SpecialDelivery messages.
Before we can release it for use on a daily basis
however, we need our users to shake it down and let us know what
they think.
We value their opinions so much that we're prepared
to give them another free year's subscription
to the Blue version of the
VaultletSuite just for taking it for a test drive.
We think that's a great deal: our beta testers get
more free Blue subscription
years, and everybody gets an even more polished version of the
VaultletSuite.

Gold: What Is It, and How Can You Get It?
What is VaultletSuite 2 Go Gold?
With the release of v2.7 of the VaultletSuite, we've added the
first of many features that power users and business alike have
told us that they need: Inline spell
checking for English and the ability to securely send
and view PDF files.
Between now and when we release v3.0 (a.k.a "El Dorado"),
we're going to continue to add even more of your most requested
features to our Gold accounts:
The ability to securely send and view Word documents, inline spell
checking in more languages, and our number one request: Offline
mode.
We've also got a couple of other big surprises up our sleeves,
but you'll just have to wait to beta test v3.0 to get your first
look at them.
How can you get Gold?
We're currently offering huge savings on our Gold
subscriptions for a limited time only. You can save up to 40%
if you act now. Here's how:
Log
in to the VaultletSuite 2 Go and Click on "My Account"
As you can see in the screenshot, if you've been with us for
a while and have accumulated more than 4 Blue
years (by being a beta tester or by referring friends and colleagues
to us), you can also convert them to Gold
years by using the VS2Go's Account Manager too.
It's our way of saying thanks to our early adopters. But don't
wait, the Blue to Gold
conversion is a limited time offer too!
(2008.04.24) We're Upgrading to

noon (GMT-05)

time involved.
While we regret the interruption of
service, we look forward to providing you with significantly enhanced
multilingual and bidirectional text support, among many other
highly desirable Good Things™.

v2.6 in Beta Testing
The VaultletSuite 2 Go's interface has been translated
into French, Russian and Arabic, and now supports Right to Left
VaultletMail message rendering for languages such as Arabic, Hebrew
and Farsi.

however, we need our users to shake it down and let us know what
they think.
We value our user's opinions so much that we're
prepared to give them another free year's subscription
to the Blue version of the
VaultletSuite just for taking it for a test drive.
We think that's a great deal: our beta testers get

years, and everybody gets an even more polished version of the
VaultletSuite - now in 5 languages!

What's next? We can't say just yet. But we will
say that you should definitely stay tuned because we've got a
couple of announcements coming that you're going to love...
(2008.01.07) VaultletSuite 2 Go Receives 4 Star
"Very Good" Editor's Review from Softpedia
This
recent review
from Softpedia does a fine job of describing the advantages
of using VaultletSuite 2 Go, along with pointing out functionality
the Softpedia editors would like to see incorporated in future
versions.
Softpedia's editors state that "VaultletMail
is like nothing you have ever seen... [and] If you want
to feel more like a Mi-6 or CIA spy, then try the cool features
this mail client comes with."
In this review of v2.4.1, they identify
a missing bit of functionality that we will be incorporating into
the upcoming v2.5: the ability to manage multiple messages at
one time. Their timing in mentioning this capacity couldn't be
better, as we recently reported in our support FAQ that VaultletSuite
2 Go users recently voted multiple message select as their number
one priority.
"I am quite pleased to see such
a detailed and positive review of VaultletSuite 2 Go. This is
a sign that our dedication to making it easy for users to protect
and control their valuable information is paying off " said
VaultletSoft's President, R. P. Ruiz.
Further, Ruiz adds: "There's nothing
like 3rd party review of our software to substantiate what I and
our users have believed all along: that the VaultletSuite 2 Go
is secure, easy to use, and completely free
of Spyware, Adware and Viruses".
(2008.01.17) This just
in: See R. P. Ruiz' response
on Softpedia's website.
