(2007.12.20) System upgrade to VaultletSuite 2 Go v2.4 on Saturday, December 22nd from 10:00am - 12:00 noon EST
We'll be upgrading our systems from 10:00am EST until 12:00 noon EST. While it's likely that our servers will
be upgraded and back online in less than 10 minutes, upgrades always have an element of surprise to them, so we prefer to be conservative
in our estimates of the time involved.
While we regret the interruption of service, we look forward to providing you with quite a few enhancements which include the infamous "missing Bcc" option, enhanced privacy control and information when dealing with updates and automated bug reports, faster startup and runtime performance (especially notable with low-bandwidth connectivity), system scalability and account management improvements, and further system messaging personalization options.

(2007.12.10) R. P. Ruiz, VaultletSoft's founder, interviewed on Telemundo's Noticiero Nacional about personal data theft
R. P. Ruiz spoke recently with Telemundo about the sudden tripling in reported personal data theft in the U.S. from 2006 to this year.
When asked to explain the sudden surge in data crimes over last year, he short answer was that business and government, among other organizations, are now obligated to report such activity, whereas before they weren't.*
Said Ruiz: "I was nonplussed when asked for a simple suggestion for Telemundo's viewers. While I did give them the obligatory sound byte (my preferred spelling) about credit freezes, I was bothered by my inability to express the range of possible steps one can take to protect themselves in 10 words or less. As a result, I decided to compile a baker's dozen of things that people can do to protect themselves."
He's already compiled a draft and will publish it, complete with numerous useful links on his blog, just in time for the holidays.
* There is, of course, a bit more subtlety and detail conveyed in his blog entry on the topic: Theft of Personal Data More Than Triples This Year.

(2007.09.13) VaultletMail SpecialDelivery extension for Firefox under development
It currently takes two keystrokes, 30 seconds and two mouse clicks to view a VaultletMail SpecialDelivery message sent anywhere outside of the VaultletMail ecosystem (e.g.: to your colleague's webmail address).
We've decided to shorten that to 1 click and a few seconds to view a SpecialDelivery message sent to just about any webmail service by creating an extension for the Firefox browser.
We'll be releasing our first beta soon, and will give a super swell prize to the first person who can see where we're going with this strategy.
Here are some screen shots of the SpecialDelivery plugin alpha.

(2007.07.19) VaultletSoft website now available in Spanish
VaultletSoft's founder, R. P. Ruiz, recently went on vacation with his family to Spain and, in addition to returning to Washington D.C. well rested, he came back with the VaultletSoft website translated into Spanish.
Said Ruiz: "it seems odd that I would take on such a project while I was on vacation in the Basque Country but, since I found myself living and breathing Spanish on a daily basis, translating the website into Spanish didn't take too much effort, just time."
As approximately one third of VaultletSuite 2 Go's users take advantage of the Spanish version of the interface, it seems reasonable that they would also have access to our website in Spanish too. This way they can confidently refer their friends, family and colleagues to our website so that they too can benefit from all that the VaultletSuite has to offer them.

(2007.04.20) You're invited to beta test VaultletSuite 2 Go
This much awaited update to the VaultletSuite takes the idea of "accessing your valuable information from anywhere" to another level. We call it VaultletSuite 2 Go, since you can now carry everything you need with you and run it from your USB drive or even a CD ROM.
Before we can release it to you to use on a daily basis however, we need you to shake it down and let us know what you think. Once you think it's ready, we'll put it into production.
We value your opinion so much that we're prepared to give you another free year's subscription to the premium version of the VaultletSuite just for downloading it and taking it for a test drive. What's more, we'll give you an additional year's premium subscription for every bug, oddity, question or doubt that you bring to our attention.
We think that's a great deal: you get more free premium subscription years, and everybody gets an even more polished version of the VaultletSuite.

(2007.01.23) VaultletSoft licenses Martus project's virtual keyboard
VaultletSoft has recently licensed the Martus project's virtual keyboard module for use in the VaultletSuite.
The virtual keyboard module, whose license was granted by Benetech, will allow VaultletSuite users to safely access their accounts from a cyber cafe's computers, some of which may have keystroke loggers installed. By clicking on a picture of a keyboard, their passphrases will be protected from this type of theft.
"I can't tell you how pleased I am to be using the Martus project's virtual keyboard module" said VaultletSoft's President, R. P. Ruiz. "This means that there's one less wheel for VaultletSoft to have to invent, and one less threat for our users to worry about ".
Further, Ruiz added that "it's gratifying to be able to support the Martus project's important work, albeit in our own small way, by paying their licensing fee.".
VaultletSoft provides Blue VaultletSuite accounts for free to all non-profits, educational institutions and the press.
